The everyday work of Morakniv AB is performed hand in hand with its ambassadors because together they can go further. Since life sets extremely high requirements for the tools (knives) used in the field of activity of such ambassadors, then it is appreciated that the ambassadors exchange their experiences, give valuable information and are the passionate partners in participating in the creation of new products. One of the ambassadors of Morakniv AB is a well-known Swedish woodcraft artist Jögge Sundqvist.
Handicraft is the world for Jögge. He is fourth generation craftsman and has been raised as a part of the Swedish national handicraft movement.
Jögge is a woodcraft artist who has become famous with his impressive ornaments and beautifully carved items: knives, spoons, trays, benches, chairs, tables, cabinets and sculptures. His workshops — we have participated there, too — are highly appreciated. Jögge’s shows “Rhythm and craft” have received a lot of attention. No wonder if the audience is shaken and surprised after a show the keywords of which are “wood, sweat and woodchips”. Jögge himself says that music, patterns and symbols are mysteriously intertwined in his life and of extreme importance to him. He is the body of that “wood”.
When Jögge talks about his work, he talks about the four cornerstones which form the basis of his everyday work: material, tools, traditions and folk art. When it comes to tools, he believes it to be a sort of a lottery to find a really good carving knife.
“There are not probably many people who would understand how difficult it actually is to find a really good wood carving knife, which is well balanced in terms of hardness, toughess and softness in relation to the angles of the cutting edge. Morakniv AB is the best among everybody else. I use these knives every day. I probably also have some other handmade knives but Morakniv AB is what I want!” says Jögge. Do you agree with Jögge?
